RE+ 2023 in Vegas

Solar for Women will be playing a role at the upcoming RE+ event in Las Vegas from September 11-14th, 2023.

This is the first year that Solar for Women will be in attendance, and we are so excited to share some perspective from women installers in the industry, and participate in the first PowerUp Race for Resilience mobile microgrid competition!

Riley will present on a panel called “Creating a Culture of Inclusion in Construction and the Trades” alongside Eryka Symmonds of SEIA and ShaLonda Dwight from SOLV Energy. The panel will take place on Tuesday 9/12/23 from 2:30-3:00 PM. The location is: Industry Trends, Booth #157, Level 2, Venetian Expo Hall.

This session will reflect on the recent U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) 2023 report, which states, “discrimination remains a substantial barrier to entry, retention, and advancement of women and people of color in construction....” The speakers will discuss how these challenges relate to the solar and clean energy industry construction and trades workers. Then the speakers will shift gears to focus on opportunities for companies to take action to create a more inclusive environment for all. The speakers will provide practical examples of their work to intentionally foster a more inclusive environment at their companies, and SEIA will invite the audience to get involved in Construction Inclusion Week coming up later this Fall.

In addition, at the event, Solar for Women has pulled together a team of women and non-binary folks to compete in first ever Power Up Race for Resilience Mobile Microgrid Competition. This is a competition put together by the Footprint Project and RE+. The Solar for Women team will include:
